Ziploc 3-Compartment Divided Lunch Containers

Ziploc 3-Compartment Divided Lunch Containers

I loved my Ziploc 3-compartment lunch divided containers and just found out they have been discontinued.  I have owned several for a while now and after using them for years I finally decided to buy a few more (everything gets wear and tear after a while).  No matter where I looked I could not find any more of these that were commercially available, unless I wanted to Ebay it (I am a sanitary germaphobe, so that won’t work).

According to Ziplocs Facebook page they have been discontinued, much to their own heart ache.  Mine too.  I loved these containers, they were easy to use, stored easily, were leak proof and carried the Ziploc good name.  Well there’s more fish in the sea as I found out.

Top 5 Alternatives to the Ziploc 3-Compartment Divided Lunch Containers

So in researching possible 3-compartment lunch divider container replacement’s I was able to come up with these five amazing alternatives.  Some of them are brands I never heard of, but still are considered top in their tier.  I may have even found a new favorite ;  )

EasyLunchboxes 3-Compartment Bento Lunch Box  **

The first contender on our list comes out fighting, hard from EasyLunchboxes.  It’s currently one of the highest rated on Amazon, a seller and has over 2,800 reviews.  This lunch box has 3 compartments and is comparable to the old Ziploc version.  Constructed out of high quality plastic, it has no BPA. PVC or phthalates.  It’s microwavable and freezer safe.  The design also allows for easy storage and stacking.

The design is child friendly, this would be a great addition to a kid’s lunch box.  Lid is easy to pull off and put back on, but does NOT fit as snugly as I would like it too.  It is not air tight and did leak a little.  But besides these shortcomings, this is an all-around super star of a lunch box.  This is my new favorite!

  • BPA Free
  • 3 Compartments, great for portion control
  • Microwavable, Dishwasher and Freezer safe
  • Child friendly design

  • Not leak proof
  • Made in China

ChefLand 3-Compartment Bento Box

Another Amazon best seller, this 3 compartment divided lunch container is produced by ChefLand, an industry leader in kitchen utensils, professional cookware and food containers. For almost the same price as the EasyLunchboxes version, you can get 10 of these ChefLand lunch containers.  The quality does fill a bit lacking compared to the latter, but still a great lunch solution.

These containers are microwave safe and can withstand temperatures as high as 250 degrees.  The main compartment can hold about 10 ounces while the two smaller compartments can hold 8 ounces apiece.  The plastic is BPA free.  The compartments are NOT leak proof from each other.

  • Microwave safe
  • BPA Free
  • 10 Pack (10 containers with 10 lids)
  • Perfect meal portion sizes

  • Compartments not leak proof from each other
  • Construction seams a little flimsy

Sunsella Buddy Boxes Bento Divided Lunch Boxes

If you are looking for more of a child’s size divided lunch container, these are perfect.  Currently rated at almost 5 starts on Amazon, these Sunsella Buddy Boxes make a great addition to any child’s lunch bag.  The portion sizes in each of the containers are great for small children, adults may crave a bit more.  They are advertised as being “Mom, Dad and Kid Friendly”, maybe if you eat like a bird.  You can ‘almost’ fit an entire sandwich into the main compartment.

They are made with premium plastics, BPA free and are microwave oven safe.  The design allows for easy stacking and storage.  There are four to a pack ranging in different colors.  The container compartments are NOT leak proof, you will get spillage from one compartment to another.

  • BPA Free
  • 3 Compartments for each lunch box
  • You get 4 lunch boxes per pack
  • Color coded boxes to help manage lunches
  • Microwave, Dishwasher and Freezer safe

  • Not leak proof
  • Portion sizes too small for an Adult, perfect for children

Perfect Life Ideas 3 Compartment Bento Lunch Boxes

Finally a divided lunch box my husband can enjoy!  Unlike the previous lunchbox, this one is much bigger and provides a larger portion size in each compartment.  The main compartment will easily fit a full sandwich, the side compartments are big enough to fill out the rest of his lunch.  If you have a growing child that is currently eating more than usual, these bento lunch boxes work great.

It is constructed with FDA approved food safe plastic, BPA free. They can be safely used in the microwave, dishwasher and freezer.  This 3 compartment lunch box is advertised as being leak proof, but a quick water colored leak test proved otherwise.

This was a close second favorite of ours.  This product is also set as our current featured image for this page (top most image).

  • BPA Free
  • Dishwasher, Freezer and Microwave oven safe
  • 3 Compartments, large portions
  • Designed to stack in tight spaces
  • You get 3 boxes in this set (3 containers, 3 lids)

  • Not 100% leak proof
  • Instances of the covers ‘popping’ off or not shutting completely

Happy Lunchboxes 3 Compartment Bento Lunch Box

Another 3 compartment lunch box that is designed for kids, these are big enough for grade schooler’s, maybe not Jr. and up.  You could fit a whole sandwich if you cut it in half and sort of stack it on itself.  You get 4 lunch boxes per package and each are color coded.  The construction is out of BPA free materials and is microwave oven and dishwasher safe (top rack only).

Unlike most of the other 3 compartment lunch boxes on our list, these are specially advertised as being ‘outer’ leak resistant, which means they will not leak on the outside but the inner compartment will still cross leak.  But also unlike the others on our list (that we could see), the seller provides a 30 day money back guarantee.

  • BPA Free
  • Microwave and Dishwasher safe
  • Outer box is leak proof
  • Perfect for grade-school lunch bag
  • 30 day money back guarantee

  • Inner compartments not leak proof (comes with one solid lid)
  • Plastic on boxes stains easily

While I am very sad to see my beloved Ziploc 3-Compartment divided lunch containers discontinued.  I have one left that’s in ‘OK’ condition that I will save for special occasions.  The good news is there are lots of other good quality alternatives available.
