As of 2016, the best lunch boxes for work are bento style boxes.  If you are not familiar with bento style lunch boxes, we have taken the top 3 bento boxes, all with extremely high ratings and reviewed them.  Bento type lunch boxes are becoming more popular.  This trend started taking off in the United States as far back as 2008, seen in this New York Times article.

The term ‘bento’ is Japanese for a single –portion takeout or a home packed meal.  You will often see these as sushi boxes now commonly seen in most grocery stores filled with California roles and inari.  Today’s bento boxes for work are not always filled with sushi or rice, but usually take the form of sandwiches, vegetables and fruit.

The entire bento box measures in at 7.3″ by 4.3″ by 4.3″.  It is constructed of BPA free plastic and is safe to use in the microwave, dishwasher and freezer.  Another great feature is that the plastic is odor and stain resistant.   This box comes in 7 different colors and designs.  At 4.6 stars this bento box ranks among some of the best lunch boxes for work.
